O say can you see yourself owning this fascinating historical signature. Author of our American national anthem “The Star-Spangled Banner” Francis Scott Key (d.1843) graced the offered antique check with a distinguished (“7”) quality endorsement. Dated 6/20/1840, this important document is drawn on the Bank of Washington in the amount of $10. Witnessing the bombardment of Fort McHenry while negotiating the release of prisoners, the inspired Key made his name into a household word by penning the lyrics to the anthem now sung at sporting events, government functions, national holidays and every other event of any significance. Crisp paper, bold printing and highly desirable signature quality make this exceptional relic well suited for framed display, while patriotic fervor manifests in true pride of ownership.
