Description

Delegate to the Continental Congress, member of the U.S. House of Representatives, Trustee of the College of New Jersey (Princeton University), Colonel in the Continental Army, Commissary General for prisoners, Director of the U.S. Mint and co-founder of the American Bible Society, wow what a resume. Crowning all these achievements, “Founding Father” Elias Boudinot (d.1821) served as President of the Continental Congress 1782-1783. History buffs get a big bang of this antique signed check. Directing fellow Congressman and Constitution signer Jonathan Dayton, Esq. to pay Jane M. Lawrence seventy-five dollars, this historic relic reports in pleasing condition with deference to a stain which does not affect Boudinot’s fanciful (“7-8”) endorsement. Dated 12/10/1811, this early American document remains crisp with bold cursive writing. Full photo LOA from JSA.
