A post player without equal, Elvin Hayes was the centerpiece of three NBA Finals installments in the Nation’s Capital, establishing a finals record 11 offensive rebounds in one game in 1979. During his eighth and penultimate season with the Bullets, “The Big E” wore this road jersey. The vintage gamer is a hoops Hall of Fame treasure, showcasing proper “Wilson” tagging and twill identifiers that include Hayes’ since-retired number “11.” Accompanying is an LOA from former Bullets employee Craig Bernstein. The blue knit pullover garment features a red-and-white horizontal stripe pattern on the upper front and “bullets” sewn across the chest in solid blue angled twill characters. In red-on-blue-on-white twill, “11” is sewn to the front and back, while “HAYES” is arched on a nameplate atop the back number in solid white block-style twill characters. Of note is that the nameplate appears to be a period replacement. White trim lines the sides, while the left front tail is home to a “Wilson” size “46” label and an additional tag with a “4” X Lng” designator. Solid game wear is evident with minimal color fading and puckering about the twill components.
