The Yankees hosted an Old Timers event that day just prior to their Saturday afternoon game agains tthe Boston Red Sox. This was one of that last significant gatherings in the Bronx prior to the sacred structure's two-year renovation (1974-1975) during which the club played its home games at Shea Stadium.
