“Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen … ”
In his smooth, iconic tone, New York Yankees public address announcer Bob Sheppard ceremoniously introduced Bronx diamond favorites for more than 60 seasons, most of them glorious. Even after his retirement (following the 1999 season) at the age of 99, Sheppard remained (albeit in a recorded introduction) at the request of Derek Jeter. This microphone was employed by Sheppard in the Yankee Stadium press box. Standing 8”-tall with its original electric cord and activation lever, the metallic keepsake has an on-off switch on the base’s underside. The item comes from Sheppard’s estate and is photo matched on page 48 of the 2011 New York Yankees Official Yearbook.
