As he inched closer to the 4000-Hit plateau, Cincinnati’s favorite son defied age and probability during the 1982 season, playing in all 162 games at the age of 41. Still quite capable, Rose brandished and autographed this bat as he mixed four triples and three home runs into 172 hits that year. The Mizuno (32-oz/34”) “3631” (Rose’s hit total to surpass Stan Musial the previous August 10) signature model weapon is signed on the barrel in black marker (“9” strength) with a “Best Wishes” salutation. Graded GU 8.5 by John Taube, PSA/DNA, the white ash lumber shows excellent use with ball, cleat and bat-rack marks, as well as a 5” handle crack and a black marker notation of “14” on the flare knob. Full photo LOAs from John Taube and JSA.
