Description

It was the first year of the AFL, the first year of the Houston Oilers, and the first year with Head Coach Lou Rymkus at the helm, when George Blanda and Billy Cannon led the Oilers to a 24-16 Championship Game victory over the LA Chargers—thus capturing the inaugural AFL title. This Josten 10K-gold, size 12 ring belonged to none other than Rymkus, and it is to our knowledge the most significant 1960 Oilers ring that has ever come to market. The blue stone is encircled by "FIRST AFL CHAMPIONSHIP / HOUSTON OILERS," and the shanks read, "RYMKUS / 1960 / AFL / 24-16." EX-MT condition. Accompanied by Mike Rymkus's 5/15/15 LOA: "My father played or coached in the AAFC, AFL and NFL for parts of four decades. He was a part of teams that won the AAFC Championship (1946-1949), NFL Championship (1950), AFL Championship (1960) and Super Bowl (1970). This is the American Football League Championship ring that was presented to my father for his role as coach of the 1960 AFL Champion Houston Oilers. It has been in my possession since he gave it to me."
