It's the greatest of all seasons in Flatbush. For Yankees fans, there's the magical year of 1961. For Dodgers devotees, nothing tops 1955—a.k.a., "Next Year." No more waiting for glory, no more bumming around for second place. Yet another Subway Series saw Brooklyn at long last vanquish their crosstown rivals. For Duke Snider, who was quite a Mr. October in his own right with a total of 11 WS home runs, 8 doubles and 26 RBIs, the '55 championship marked the crowning achievement of his career.
And here is one of the ultimate collectible tributes to the Silver Fox's greatest campaign: A 10K-gold, size 10 salesman's sample produced by the venerable manufacturer Dieges & Clust. Spectacular NM condition with bright-blue shank designs of the Dodgers logo and Snider's facsimile signature to match the cobalt hue of the oval stone on which a CZ stone proudly sits. According to our consignor, this ring was purchased by him in 1994 and was one of two examples originally owned by a Dieges & Clust secretary. This item has a reserve (estimated value $5,000 - 7,500).
