This miraculous survivor was uncataloged up until it surfaced on the auction block in 2002—and it hasn't seen the light of day since. Hailing from one of the more popular non-sport issues of the 1930s, the 80-year-old box features Walt Disney's signature character at a time when Mickey hadn't even been around for a decade yet. (But apparently the white-gloved rodent extraordinaire could already wave and chew gum at the same time!) Worthy of note as well is the patriotic "NRA - We Do Our Part" eagle logo near Mickey's iconic ears, showing Gum, Inc.'s support of FDR's National Recovery Administration program to spur economic growth during the Great Depression.

Visually alluring, well-preserved and sturdy, the two-part box's top half features an approximately VG/EX Mickey panel with vintage writing along its left edge, and the two long side panels each have a small area of tape remnants/paper loss. The bottom half of the box bears minor edge wear and continuation of the aforementioned tape remnants/paper loss on the underside. All of which is unobtrusive and essentially a moot point relative to the sheer fact of the box's existence and exclusive availability. A rarity of the highest order with crossover appeal for non-sport card collectors and Disney collectors alike!

This item has a reserve (estimated value $5,000 - $10,000).
